There is no one else in the world like you. There is no one who has experienced every single experience you have or shares the exact same outlook that you do. You bring something unique and wonderful into this world every single day you are in it. You are one of a kind and while it might be nice to admire the bodies, personalities, achievements and other attributes belonging to others, you can only be you.

Take what you have and take the best care of it you can. Honor the space that is your body. Exercise your mind and clean out the clutter and chaos that comes by way of toxic relationships, bad habits and vintage thought processes.

Carry yourself with the care and pride you do your favorite piece of jewelry or clothings. Cherish yourself. You do not have to look a certain way, be a certain size or be attached to someone to be gorgeous, loveable and meaningful to this world. You are priceless and the moment you realize that your whole life will open up.
Someone is looking at you with admiration right now. They see greatness in you. Now see it in yourself.

Tell me, what do you love about you?

Another Decor Post!

Well I don't know why my blog is underlining everything, but I guess I will make this post anyways.
I have been redecorating my room recently with the addition of the new bed and all, and I feel that it is really going somewhere. I thought I would do another decor post since people told me the last one was fun to look at.

The picture below is pretty intense color wise, and I really like it! I can see how it wouldn't work at all in a small or short room though, so until I get that huge house in Boston (HAHA) I am going to have to stick with a more mellow color theme.

I am completely head over heels in love with the purple dresser below! (oh, the underlines have disappeared!) It is so weird and amazing to look at and I think the idea is a really great one. It would make a great bar or even a closed bookcase.

Take a look at the chandelier below! All of you know I am chandelier crazy and this one is pretty amazing. I am wondering if I can make one myself eventually, maybe out of white coated clothing hangars?

This looks like an excellent DIY. Really cool shelves made out of wine boxes and coated with vintage wallpaper.

While I am not to crazy about the bookcases on the right, I am madly in love with the ones on the left. It is an excellent way to break up the look of a solid wall of books. It seems like this would be an easy project if you can get the measurements for the wood correct.

This is going to be my next project. I love love love the look. Really amazing antique furniture seems to easily fall into my lap up here in Mass, so as soon as a free dresser that is similar drops into my lap I will have an amazing rainbow dresser. I have a dresser at the moment that wouldn't work simply because the front of it is entirely surfaced by the drawers.

If I ever have a yard (and I'm sure it would be a tiny one up here) I want it to be groomed like the one below. No need to mow and I could grow herbs and dwarf fruit trees in a really organized fashion. I have saved this picture for 2 years now and I love it more and more.
So I hope you have enjoyed the latest decor post. I am going to clean up my room this afternoon and take photos of the new stuff and setup. Have a great weekend!

Sentences on Conceptual Art (1968)
Sol Lewitt

1) Conceptual Artists are mystics rather than rationalists. They leap to conclusions that logic cannot reach.
2) Rational judgments repeat rational judgments.
3) Illogical judgments lead to new experience.
4) Formal art is essentially rational.
5) Irrational thoughts should be followed absolutely and logically.
6) If the artist changes his mind midway through the execution of the piece he compromises the result and repeats past results.
7) The artist’s will is secondary to the process he initiates from idea to completion. His willfulness may only be ego.
8) When words such as painting and sculpture are used, they connote a whole tradition and imply a consequent acceptance of this tradition, thus placing limitations on the artist who would be reluctant to make art that goes beyond the limitations.
9) The concept and idea are different. The former implies a general direction while the latter is the component. Ideas implement the concept.
10) Ideas alone can be works of art; they are in a chain of development that may eventually find some form. All ideas need not be made physical.
11) Ideas do not necessarily proceed in logical order. They may set one off in unexpected directions but an idea must necessarily be completed in the mind before the next one is formed.
12) For each work of art that becomes physical there are many variations that do not.
13) A work of art may be understood as a conductor from the artists’ mind to the viewers. But it may never reach the viewer, or it may never leave the artists’ mind.
14) The words of one artist to another may induce a chain of ideas, if they share the same concept.
15) Since no form is intrinsically superior to another, the artist may use any form, from an expression of words (written or spoken) to physical reality, equally.
16) If words are used, and they proceed from ideas about art, then they are art and not literature, numbers are not mathematics.
17) All ideas are art if they are concerned with art and fall within the conventions of art.
18) One usually understands the art of the past by applying the conventions of the present thus misunderstanding the art of the past.
19) The conventions of art are altered by works of art.
20) Successful art changes our understanding of the conventions by altering our perceptions.
21) Perception of ideas leads to new ideas.
22) The artist cannot imagine his art, and cannot perceive it until it is complete.
23) One artist may misperceive (understand it differently from the artist) a work of art but still be set off in his own chain of thought by that misconstruing.
24) Perception is subjective.
25) The artist may not necessarily understand his own art. His perception is neither better nor worse than that of others.
26) An artist may perceive the art of others better than his own.
27) The concept of a work of art may involve the matter of the piece or the process in which it is made.
28) Once the idea of the piece is established in the artist’s mind and the final form is decided, the process is carried out blindly. There are many side effects that the artist cannot imagine. These may be used as ideas for new works.
29) The process is mechanical and should not be tampered with. It should run its course.
30) There are many elements involved in a work of art. The most important are the most obvious.
31) If an artist uses the same form in a group of works and changes the material, one would assume the artist’s concept involved the material.
32) Banal ideas cannot be rescued by beautiful execution.
33) It is difficult to bungle a good idea.
34) When an artist learns his craft too well he makes slick art.
35) These sentences comment on art, but are not art

Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me
Like a shell upon a beach
Just another pretty piece
I was difficult to see
But you picked me
Yeah you picked me

And all I can say
Is you blow me away

Thank God my parents aren't freaks.

ok, so I like to stumble around on the internet a lot, and today I came across something so sickening and bizzare that I thought I just HAD to post about it. Take a look at the screen shot below from the website Marry Our Daughter:

This may or may not be a joke, but lets pretend it is completely legitimate. So basically, if a family needs some extra money, like say for some medical bills, a new room addition to the trailer house, or maybe their wild crack addiction they can jst put their young (I didn't see any over 17) daughter on the site and allow some stranger on the internet to click the handy little "I propose!" button and marry their daughter. The cheapest bargain bride I saw listed was for $5995 and the most expensive was $99,995. There is also a great little testimonials section. I have copied and pasted it below and bolded my FAVORITE parts!

Thank God for your site! Our daughter was really nervous walking down the aisle, but she seems okay now and the money we got let us keep our farm and even add on a few acres."

—Mrs. Addrien L.
(congrats on your new acres Mrs. Affrien, I hope that your daughter, whom you obviously love dearly becomes a little more than "okay" with her new life.)

"At first we were worried that Janine was too young to get married, (no kidding?) but then her new husband bought her a house and a car and jewelry (WOO!!!) and the money we got let us buy a house for ourselves. Getting out of the trailer park at our age was the best thing that ever happened to us, and it’s all thanks to Marry Our Daughter!"

—Mr. Jack M.

“I was SO scared getting married so young, but my husband is an okay guy and I am SO proud that because of me my parents were able to get their first brand-new car and take the trip they always wanted to. I couldn’t have done it without your site!"

—Katrina K., married at 14
(wow Katrina, he sounds like a great catch. When i think of the husband I might have someday (by my own free will of course) of my life I hope I can be crazy in love with him enough to refer to him as an okay guy!! I am sure glad your utterly unselfish parents got to take a trip at the expense of your future!)

“Our 15 year old daughter Mary wasn’t very popular and did nothing but mope around the house bringing everybody down, so we decided to marry her off through your site. Now our house is a lot cheerier and we love our new swimming pool and Jaccuzi! We’ve told our youngest that when she turns 15 we’re going to marry her off too!"

—Mrs. James P.
(wow, so I was only going to highlight bits and pieces, but EVERYTHING in this example made me throw up a little bit in the back of my mouth. You know Mrs. James, maybe Mary was mopey because you are a freaking psycho.)

My mother thought I was getting ‘too frisky” and that I had to get married right away before I lost my purity to some high school boy. Marry Our Daughter found me a husband and my parents were able to keep their house and pay off my mother’s medical bills. I was so glad I could help them, and being married at my age (I'm 16 now) has a lot of advantages, like my own credit card!"

—Nancy A.
(this girl really has it made, a most likely 30 year old man as a husband who was desperate enough to propose to her by clicking a button, a sickly and selfish mother, and debt up to her eyeballs!!)

Really, if you really don't want a daughter because she "mopes around the house" or kisses her same age boyfriend a little to much just don't have kids to begin with. Really, its like buying a new puppy and the dropping it off at the animal shelter because it got annoying. Except this animal shelter pays you lots of money.

Those testimonials are quite compelling though... I am thinking about applying myself. What do you guys think about my ad so far?

The only thing I think my mother would disagree with would be my asking price. Since my mom is a NORMAL, LOVING, AND ALL AROUND AWESOME mom she would have put in PRICELESS instead of any amount of cash. But hey, maybe a jacuzzi and a BMW would change her mind.

Piper's new hoodie

Pippy and Natalie in our little kitchen

I bought Piper a little pink hoodie at Old Navy today with money I received from returning a pair of pants. Piper is surprisingly tolerant of all doggie clothing items so I put her boots on too. Piper's boots make her run around like a rocket and dance.
modeling the goods
being a wild turkey
all tuckered out

She is ready for winter =]=]=]

EDIT: OK SO ITS FUTBOL, NOT FUBOL. THANK YOU NATALIE!!

I'm really close to being proud of this poster. It just needs a few more tweaks. I am pretty amped about girls soccer this semester. If you are in the area and want to play, there you go!

NEW ROOM DECOR POST!!!

I've always had a thing for these French style beds with the curved baseboards. Nothing quite as glamorous! I am a complete craigslist addict and lately I have been searching for various beds (usually ikea ones) since I will graduate in September at the ripe age of 21 to a full size bed! I stumbled upon the green one below, which needs a lot of work. it was love at first sight, but I quickly tried to forget it, since It is located about an hour away from my apartment at AUC and I drive a civic, which is really lacking in bed transportation space. I was completely in love with it though and thought about it for a week and then decided I would regret not having it for myself. I called the woman selling it and she was really friendly and wonderful. THEN my awesome Bob said he didnt mind borrowing his parents volvo stationwagon to transport it for me, as well as my birthday bicycle he got me. INCREDIBLE!!! So, this weekend on Sunday I will go pick up my amazing bed and equally amazing bicycle from the 1970s and migrate back to my charming apartment with the roommate love of my life Natalie.

I think I will repaint it the same green. So charming!

I am going to make a duvet out of this fabric once I get the funds in order. It is so girly and appropriate for me.

Horses are a definite theme in my room and for my birthday Bob bought me this pony lamp that I had been drooling over for weeks. I am going to have it right next to my bed. I love it so so much.

This is the print I bought from joan a few months ago and I fall more in love with it everytime I see it. It is in a large antique gold frame and I will put it over my bed.

I also bought both Natalie and myself one of these. I had always wanted one but they are so expensive. I found them at the Christmas Tree Shop for $2.99 each! WOWZA!
What a sexy room I will have!! I will post pictures along the way.

YAY!
I am 21 tomorrow!!!
Bob is taking me out tonight for dinner with some friends. THEN we are going to a club place called Lime Light where there is alot of kareoki. I'm pretty excited!! I shaved my legs extra well and took my time blow drying my hair. Its a special weekend after all.

Mom sent me the prettiest Tiffany&Co necklace. I love it so much! I called a few of my friends today to say hi since I can;t be with them. If you haven't recieved a call yet, it will come tomorrow!

I know I haven't been good at this blog thing this summer, its been a really busy time with Harvard classes and all. But expect things to return to a regular schedule when fall semester begins. I will have so much cool stuff to share. And hopefully a digital camera will fall from the heavens to help me document.

I love you all dearly. (You specifically!)

Meg.

SO....... I haven't updated in over 2 months. LIFE IS BUSY HERE IN BOSTON.
A quick recap of things you have missed because I was lazy:

1. Moved to Somerville, MA; live with complete strangers in house found on craigslist. Landlord is 23 year old professional poker player who drives one of these:
2. Began Harvard classes. Having a ton of fun! Dropped economics for another art class, which puts me at 12 hours a week in the studio with an expected out of class work time of 36 hours a week as well.

3. Missing Natalie and TWiNs and AUC family like crazy every day.

4. Went home for a week. Good to see mom and my family. Saw John Day and Lindsay too!!

5. Went to alot of parties where I knew no one.

Thats about it so far. Today I went to Petsmart and bought 2 snails to keep my goldfish Mason company. Saw a license plate that said POO on it. It made me laugh. I might get a digital camera soon, so it will be easier to show you my current surroundings.

21 on the 28th!!!!

More later.

its been so pretty here lately

So WOW!
I saw Third Eye Blind in concert last night!!! As one out of only 2 bands I have ever REALLY wanted to see in my life (The other being the one and ONLY Ben Folds!!), finally seeing them was such a rush. It was especially cool becase this month marks the bands 10 year anniversary. For a band being that old they can still really rock some socks. Bob and I went with his friends Tyler and his girlfriend Emma, and Dale. It was fn group to go with because Dale is completely into usic in general and Tyler and Bob are pretty funny together. Emma and I were pretty much eachohters dates until the music started. Then the guys were pretty affectionate =] I got pretty into it and I think we all did on some level. The crowd was really enthusiastic and sang along to every song. All in all the band was incredible and it was a great time.

I Officially have spring fever:

Megan, walks into class 5 minutes late...

Prosessor: "Megan, you are one of the few students who I can always count on to be on time. What happened?"

Megan: "Oh, i thought I saw a four leaf clover on the way over..."

Not only is this the best excuse for being late to class EVER, it is also a true story. Luckily my professor just smiled.

Life is so good.

Friday, April 27, 2007

I'm feeling really thoughtful today. I think it has something to do with the fact I have been searching for an apaerment all day. Life is a changin'. I will be attending Harvard university this summer. Aside from making me look sickeningly intelligent and looking great on a resume, it will be a really great experience. I am going to move into an apartment in either Cambridge or Somerville with complete and total strangers. I won't know a soul except for Bob (and Tom and Jenny) since all of my AUC friends will be gone for the summer. Natalie will be in Mexico and I am going to miss her so much it seems unbearable. She has put up with all of my crap, tried her best to always make me smile, and force-fed me when my stomach was growling. I can hear her talking on the phone right now because my door is open and she sounds so happy. Natalie is so in love! She fell for one of the twins and it makes me so so happy. She talks about him and her face just lights up. She is in love. Its good to be in love. I'm feeling really happy with my situation too. <3

So, I look to the future and to this summer with open arms, unafraid of what is to come. My faith in humanity has been greatly shaken this year, but i guess we aren't called to have faith in humanity anyways; we are called to have faith in He who is much bigger.
I have found it. THIS is what I want my space to look like eventually. This is it. The colors are devine and right on the mark. Just add a few oddities to give it some spunk and you have my dream apartment.

So, I have had this fish for a long time. He hasn't had an easy life; I rescued him from an awful petshop last summer and then drove him all the way up to Mass in a tupperwear container. Now he lives in my bathroom on a vase over the toilet. He is still really active and appears happy. I don't know how he is still alive. Bob has been reading "drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" and he has been feeling all right brainy so I decided to ask him what to name Mr. Fish. He immediately said "Mason" which I loved but only if we could call him Mason Jar. So here he is: Mr. Mason Jarr Fish, gaurdian of the bathroom.

Monday, April 23, 2007

So wow. Busy Busy weekend!!!!! Ironic, since Bob and I had nothing planned this weekend at all. That is unusual for us; we always have a ton of things planned. We found plenty of stuff to get in to regardless. Stuff just falls in our laps. I arrived Thursday night, as usual…

Friday!
Woke up really early. Bob had work. Spent the day trying to nail down the rest of my summer details and really just wasted away the entire morning. Bob came home and we decided to drive over to his parents. Got to ride on the back of the bike again, which always just makes my day. I can’t wait until I can swing one of my own. I already have it picked out and everything!! Its kind of laughable for me to be so excited because I won’t be able to afford one until I have a real job and some savings under my wings. Bob said I’m getting better at leaning with the bike and making driving easier on him. The whole experience is just really thrilling for me. I absolutely love my new helmet, even though Bobby says it is gaudy. I like gaudy. I’m going to have I airbrushed eventually, by Bob’s friend Luke Dobie. I have my rough draft nailed out below. The script is Italian for “I live a beautiful life.” So true.

Saturday!

Slept in. Took the day slow because we couldn’t decide on what to do. Ended up back over at his parent’s house where we dropped Piper off and went out on a drive down old route 1. It was a really gorgeous day, which is good; we deserve a few of those after the wet and cold winter. We got a little lost, but that’s really what you should do on a scenic drive. Stopped in (???) and ate at this little restaurant. I had claw chowder because I am addicted to it and Bob had a hamburger. We had a good chat about life in general and then set out for more driving. We went on a short bike ride back at the house and then we went to Richardson’s, which is this minigolf, driving range, and ice-cream place to meet up with some of Bob’s high school friends. I tend to really like Bob’s friends, they are always really funny and they always have girlfriends who I can hang out with while the guys get all of their testosterone out. Lisa was Phil’s fiancĂ©e and she looked so much like my awesome friend Kaelyn than I almost fainted. The boys let us hit a few of their golf balls on the range and we both embarrassed ourselves. It was ok though. =] Bob hit a few really far and he also almost hit Lisa next to him. We had ice cream after that and stood around talking until it got late and we decided to head home.

nap time, Piper style

Sunday!
Bob’s buddy Justin had called him on Saturday to invite us to go to 6Flags with he and his girlfriend Jill. (See, there is always a friend for me.) I was a little nervous because I am absolutely terrified of rollercoasters. Not many things scare me as badly as rollarcoasters. I hate them. I absolutely hate them. BUT! Being the positive person I am I was still really amped about going. I figured I could just sit out anything that seemed too scary for me to ride (which is what I ended up doing.) We left Somerville around 8 for the 2-hour drive to Agawam Mass. After dropping Piper off at home we had a fun ride west across Mass with the radio blasting and the windows down. Road trips are always really fun with Bobby. He likes to sing really loud on a lot of the songs and I am always laughing. We saw so many motorcycles on the road we were both jealous that we weren’t out on his Yamaha. We made it to Agawam about 20 minutes late and met Justin and Jill who I both really liked. Of course I chickened out on every single coaster and ended up sitting on a bench watching, but that was completely ok for me. Not like I’m not used to it!! They did manage to get me on 2 rides (which is 2 more than I usually get on…) One was called The Scream! and it was basically this huge tower thing that rises 20 stories up into the sky. You sit in the little chairs and they launch you up into the air to the top without warning. Then they drop you. Also without warning. This goes on for far too long and you pretty much want to piss yourself. It’s a nice view from the top; too bad my eyes were closed 90% of the time. I didn’t get to sit next to Bob for that one, which made me rather sad, but Justin said I didn’t scream. I think I was to scared to scream. The other ride I went on was your typical group water raft deal. I was the one who got soaked. Of course. Justin, Jill, and Bob all went to get in line for the Superman ride (which I was too scared to ride of course) and the line was so very long. I parked myself on a bench and resigned myself to the probably 2hour wait I would go through alone. I went to use the restroom, because there was nothing else to do and when I came back Bob popped out of nowhere to keep me company. He said he didn’t want me to have to be bored and alone for that long. I felt really bad because Justin had been saying how amazing the ride was and now Bob wasn’t going to get to experience it. He told me I was silly and he wouldn’t want to leave me alone for that long with nothing to do. It was really sweet of him. He bought us Dippin’Dots ice cream and we walked around the park for a while. It was a really sunny warm day and I think we both really enjoyed lounging in the sun and talking about all manner of subjects. After over 2 hours J&J emerged from the coaster and we headed out to drive home. We stopped to pick up my car from his parents house and ate Chinese there and watched Cinderella Man. I didn’t expect to enjoy that movie as much as I did. I really loved it actually. That concluded our “No plans” weekend. We always have a great time, don’t we?
The Scream

I am so very glad that the weather is warm. If it gets cold again I think I just might die. Bob and I are both a little sunburned from Sunday, but my face is fine, I wear facial sunscreen everyday (as should you.) This afternoon between classes I am going to go out to Killbourne hill and lie in the sun and relish in the fact that I am alive.

It is a beautiful life.

Oh, btw, I’m a brunette again.

So, this whole V-Tech shooting thing is making me saddish. In order to combat these sad feelings i have inside, I am going to share with you this man who makes me laugh. I found him online, and I have no idea of what was going on in this picture.

Wednesday, March 28, 2007

Natalie and I haven't been out to town together for a long long time. Today was our day to catch up. I needed to find a nice outfit for Easter lunch with the Bermani's and she just wanted to spend time with me. What a gem. First on our stop was the local gas station for SLURPEES! Although ours weren't QUITE as large as the ones below.
She also bought me a ring pop. Two HUGE slurpees and 2 ringpops for $2.41. I am one cheap date.

Here we are enjoying them. If you know me at all there is nothing I like more than slurpees. (Except cupcakes, ponies, glitter, ect.)

We love them!!

Next we stopped by the bank. On the way out of that parking lot we stopped at the light until it turned into a nice green arrow for us. There was a huge camper thing turning left from across from us and it was blocking the turn path so we couldn;t turn safely. Mr. RUDE Yankee behind us didn't seem to think this mattered and he kept honking at us even though we couldn't turn anyways. We finally did turn and he yelled angrily "POTATO!!!" at us out the window. I immediately burst into laughter.

You see Natalie has Idaho tags, which you can clearly see an example of below (dont worry, this isnt a photo of her actual tag.) FAMOUS POTATOES! She hates potato comments more than anyone actually should.
Natalie isn't discriminated against because of her skin color, sex, or blondness. No, this poor girl is called a potato. That is just wrong. We all need to develop a tolerance for vegetables that are different from us. Weakening.

WHAT IS THE WORLD BECOMING?!
